Demand for appointments has increased over the years, and the doctors are still trying to keep up with these and have made changes to the appointment system to provide a better service. This means the surgery offers convenient access to doctors each morning – Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
Our walk-in clinic runs between the hours of 08:00am and 11:00am. The final bookings for our walk-in clinic are taken at 10:50am, so please arrive before this time. You will not be able to request to see a certain doctor, but you may request to see a male or female doctor if deemed necessary. Each appointment is for 10 minutes, is for one person, and covers one issue. Patients are seen on a first come basis.
Please do not put unnecessary pressure on the receptionist by demanding to see a certain doctor. If patients need to see a doctor that day you must accept that your appointment will be with the next available doctor who will be working on a rotation basis.
Telephone consultations can also be pre-booked. These are limited. Please remember to leave a contact number that is easily accessible for your return call. You may be asked a few questions by the receptionists so they can leave as much information as possible for the doctors. This enables the doctors to deal with the more urgent cases first.
Thank you for your cooperation.
There will be a limited number of ‘urgent appointments’. Again, please do not demand to see a doctor of your choice. Yes, by all means ask for a certain doctor but please accept that doctor may well be already booked up for that day. While the surgery strives to accommodate patients’ requests, it is impossible to meet all the demands made of them.
You can pre-book an appointment up to four weeks in advance. Each appointment is for 10 minutes and covers one issue. If more than one family member needs to see the doctor, please make a separate appointment for each person. If you would like to discuss two issues then please make a double appointment. Double appointments must be prioritised. Please do remember that although an appointment may be available when you request one, a double appointment might not be as readily available and you may experience a slightly longer waiting period to book a double appointment.
If you are unable to find a suitable appointment at the practice, and are unable to attend our walk-in clinics, you can now book an appointment at a Bexley Hub site. For further information, please see our Bexley Hub page.
If you cannot attend an appointment for any reason please inform us as soon as possible in order for us to give the slot to someone else. If you repeatedly do not attend ("DNA") appointments, this will be handled in line with the Surgery's DNA policy.
We would like to emphasise that home visits are especially for patients who are too frail to attend the surgery, the severely disabled or confined to bed.
Home visits are usually done after the morning surgery, so to ensure a visit on the same day please call the surgery between 08:00 – 10:00 on 0208 304 6972.
Please try and attend the surgery if possible, as the doctor can see 3 to 4 patients for the average time it takes to make one home visit. As home visits are time-consuming we would appreciate it if you request a home visit only when you are too ill to come to the surgery. It would also be helpful if you would indicate to the receptionist the nature of your problem so that the priority can be given to the urgent cases.
All patients registered with a Bexley GP (or a resident in Bexley but have yet to registered with a Bexley GP practice) can now request a GP appointment between 6.30pm and 8pm Monday to Friday and 8am to 8pm Saturdays and Sundays (including bank holidays).
Booking is easy – patients should contact their GP practice in the usual way during normal operating hours, and ask for a weekday evening or weekend appointment. To book an evening or weekend appointment after the GP has closed, call 111.
Any patient registered with a GP surgery in the borough of Bexley can request an appointment.
At the moment, appointment slots will be available up to one week in advance.
Patients will be offered an appointment at one of two GP hubs in Bexley. The GP practice will confirm which location when booking the appointment:
Queen Mary’s Hospital (from 8 May 2017)
Adult learning disabilities and community services departments
A site map of the QMH GP hub service is available on the left of this page to download
Erith Hospital (from 5 June 2017)
Patients unable to attend their appointment should call the following numbers to help ensure that the appointment slot can be made available to someone else.
